Drug Screen Rules Setup

(Topic Last Updated On:  05/03/2018)

Administration > Drug Screen Rules Setup

The Drug Screen Rules Setup menu item found on the Administration menu, launches the Drug Screen Rules Setup screen. This screen plays an integral part in the new Acceptable vs. Unacceptable Drug Screen Result functionality. This screen allows users to map associations with dosing and/or prescription drug types to drug screen result drug types. Rules configured on this screen, in cooperation with other preferences, allow facilities to deem 'positive' drug screen results as 'acceptable'. This screen corresponds closely with the 'Drug Type' screen located in the Inventory Setup submenu, on the Administration menu.

Considerations

New Acceptable vs. Unacceptable Drug Screen Test Result Functionality

Determining whether or not a patient's Drug Screen Result is 'Acceptable' is now driven by the rules configured at your facility, based on a Drug Screen Result's 'Test Date'. If a result's 'Test Date' falls within the effective date range of a Prescription (based on End Date by default), or if the patient was dispensed a drug type for a 'Take On Date' that matches the 'Test Date' of a result, the result will be deemed 'Acceptable' if all mapped 'Drug Screen Drug Types' are positive on the result. New preferences found in the 'Drug Screens' preference category of the 'General Preferences' under the Main Preferences menu, in cooperation with the Drug Screen Rules setup on this screen, drive this new functionality. If no Drug Screen Rules are defined, the 'Acceptable' status of a Drug Screen Result will function as it did prior to the introduction of mapping rules and this new functionality. *See the Drug Screen Results topic for more information.
