The Help Menu

The Help menu displayed in the screen shot below is accessed by clicking on the Help main menu item.  This menu provides various functions to help Methasoft users learn system functionality and troubleshoot support problems.  The 'What's New' menu item opens a document that informs users of changes made to Methasoft for each version or revision of the software.  The 'Remote Support' item launches remote support functionality, so that trained Methasoft support specialists can connect directly to a user's workstation to help identify and fix a problem, or to provide instructions on a procedure.  The 'Methasoft Home Page' menu item opens the Methasoft web site.  The 'Methasoft Help' menu item opens the Methasoft Help application, which covers each system screen and function, including topics for each report.  The Methasoft Help application is the source for the 'Current Active Screen Help' menu item, which opens the Help topic associated with the screen a user is currently working on.  The 'About Us' screen provides useful information such as the client version number, server pathway, database, and the user ID of the currently logged in user.

 

 

Menu Item Descriptions and Functions

 

What's New

Selecting this menu item opens the What's New screen shown below, which summarizes development changes made to Methasoft for each revision or version of the software.  This is useful for reviewing the latest changes whenever your software is updated, to view what problems have been fixed and what functionality has been changed or added.

 

 

Remote Support

Selecting this menu item opens the Methasoft Support Application window shown below, which is used to make direct peer-to-peer connections with Methasoft Support staff while troubleshooting a support problem or discussing an issue or question.  These connections should only be attempted upon the instruction of Methasoft Support staff.  When instructed to connect remotely, double-clicking on the 'Support Person #' provided will initiate the connection.

 

 

Methasoft Home Page

Selecting this menu item will open a browser screen displaying Methasoft's home page on the Methasoft's internet web site.

Methasoft Help

Selecting this menu item opens the Methasoft Help application screen, displayed below.  The table of 'Contents' is displayed on the left side, and corresponds to the main and sub-menu items available in Methasoft, for easy navigation to any help topic.  The 'Index' button provides a comprehensive index for finding topics.  The 'Search' function allows for finding topics using keyword entries.  The 'Glossary' button opens a glossary of industry-specific and Methasoft-specific terms and definitions.

 

 

Current Active Screen Help

When a screen is open and selected ('active') in Methasoft, pressing this button will open the currently active screen's help topic on a separate screen, as shown below.  The Show button at the top of these screens will display the full Methasoft Help menu displayed above when pressed.  This functionality provides quick, direct access to help topics for screens as they are being worked on.  Pressing the 'Active Screen Help' button on the Methasoft toolbar will also perform this function.  When a user is on the Run Reports screen, selecting a report on the 'Reports' grid then pressing the Help button will open the help topic for the selected report.

 

About Us

Selecting this menu item opens the About Us window shown below, which provides useful user, computer, and software information.  This screen can be used to quickly verify which version of Methasoft is running, the User ID currently logged-in, the Workstation ID for the computer running Methasoft, the Server pathway, the Database name, the current Validation Key, and the date of the last time Methasoft was updated at your facility.

 

 

The Check for Updates button can be used to see if updates are available for your version of Methasoft.  Pressing the Register button will open the Register Methasoft window shown below.  Methasoft Support personnel can provide a user with a facility's Registration Key to register Methasoft.

 

Procedures

How to Use the Remote Support Application

 

This procedure should only be used when instructed by Methasoft Support personnel.

 

1.) Select the 'Remote Support' menu item on the Tools menu.  This will open the Methasoft Support Application window.

 

2.) Double-click on the 'Support Person #' as instructed by Methasoft Support staff.  This will initiate the connection between your computer and the Support person's computer.  The Support person will inform you when the connection has been made after accepting your initial request.  Once the connection has been made, both parties will be able to view and control the same screen while the other is watching.

Remote Support

Remote Support functionality may be limited in some facilities, depending on hardware, software, networking, and security policy considerations.

Methasoft Home Page

There are currently plans in development for improving Methasoft product's website, to potentially include useful customer, system, and service information.
