The Breath/Blood Alcohol History item in the Medical menu launches the Breath/Blood Alcohol History screen. This screen is used to enter breathalyzer and blood alcohol test results per patient. Results are also entered into this screen when staff use the 'Quick BAT' button from the dose patient screen.

 

 

Field Descriptions

 

Test Type

From this dropdown menu, choose how the test was preformed. Options are Breathalyzer or Blood.

Test Date

This field displays the date the test was taken. The dropdown is a calendar selection menu where the test date is selected.

Result

This field displays the user entered blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level.

Comment

This field displays the user entered comment associated with the test record.

 

Grid Columns

 

Test Date

This column displays the date the breath/blood alcohol test was taken.

Test Type

This column displays how the test was taken. Options are Breathalyzer or Blood.

Result Value

This column displays the user entered blood alcohol concentration (BAC) levels.

Entered By

This column displays the name of the user that entered the test results.

Comment

This column displays the user entered comment associated with the test record.

Deleted

This checkbox indication column shows a checkmark icon if the test record has been deleted. The option in the top right corner of the screen, 'Include Deleted' must be checked before deleted records will appear in the grid.

 

Command Buttons

 

Add

Press this button to enter in a new breath/blood alcohol test record for the selected patient.

Edit

After a test record has been selected from the grid, pressing this button allows the user to edit the details of the selected record.

Delete

After a test record has been selected from the grid, pressing this button will permanently delete the record. Deleted records can be seen when checking the 'Include Deleted' checkbox at the top right corner of the screen. Deleted records cannot be undeleted.

Save

Pressing this button saves new or edited test records.

Close

This button will close the Breath/Blood Alcohol History screen.

Cancel

When adding or editing a test record, clicking this button will cancel the selections and input entered without saving the changes.

 

Procedures

How to Add Breath/Blood Alcohol Test Results

 

1.) Select the specific patient from the patient list dropdown menu.

 

2.) Press the New button.

 

3.) Select the test type from the dropdown menu. Breathalyzer or Blood.

 

4.) Select the date the test was taken using the calendar date selection menu.

 

5.) Enter the blood alcohol concentration (BAC) level into the results textbox. Results must start with '0' and are limited to 3 digits after the decimal. (ie. 0.080)

 

6.) (Optional) Enter in a comment to be associated with the test results.

 

7.) Press the Save button.

 


How to Add a Quick BAT (Blood Alcohol Test) from the Dose Patient Screen

 

1.) With the specific patient selected on the Dose Patient screen, press the BAT shortcut button. This button is located on the button menu at the top of the screen.

 

2.) The Quick BAT pop-up screen will appear.

 

3.) Select the test type, enter the BAC level results, and enter a comment if needed.

 

4.) Press the Save button. This will save the test results to the Breath/Blood Alcohol History screen for the date it was entered, and will close the Quick BAT pop-up screen.

 

 

How to Edit a Breath/Blood Alcohol Test Record

 

1.) Select the breath/blood alcohol history test record to be edited from the grid.

 

2.) Press the Edit button.

 

3.) Make needed changes to test type, test date, result, or comment fields.

 

4.) Press the Save button.

 

 

How to Delete a Breath/Blood Alcohol Test Record

 

1.) To delete a test record, first select the breath/blood alcohol history test record from the grid.

 

2.) Press the Delete button.

 

3.) A delete confirmation dialog box will pop-up asking if you are sure you want to delete the record. If you are sure, press Yes to permanently delete the record.

 

 

 

Considerations

 

Select the Specific Patient

Like most screens in Methasoft, the data displayed in the Breath/Blood Alcohol History screen is specific to the patient that is selected in the patient list dropdown. No records will display if no patient is selected. The same is true about the Dose Patient screen. The quick BAT button will be grayed out if no patient is selected.
